A Saturn Return is when the planet Saturn, returns to the same position it was at during the day and time you were born, but approximately 29.5 years later. This happens to every single one of us. While some practices only refer to Saturn Return occurring when it’s ‘near’ your natal Saturn, others believe it’s the moment Saturn enters the sign/house of your natal Saturn. We believe and practice the latter.

What does Saturn represent?

The planet Saturn represents a variety of things. In the context of a Saturn Return, it will establish rules and boundaries, teach karmic lessons and really just steer you in the right direction.

If it’s the loss of something or something negative, it’s not meant for you and meant to teach you lessons regarding what you’re not supposed to do.

If it’s relatively easy or positive, continue on as you are on the right track.

What happens during your first Saturn return?

First Saturn Return: ~27 to 30 years old

Usually a wake up call about the reality of what your life will be. Saturn is like a ‘discipline master’. Checking up on whether you’re on the right path and readjusting you towards the better path. It’s usually not easy, unless you’re already putting in the tough work needed for your own growth.

You may begin to go through lessons in your life that will bring you into ‘adulthood’. Where the definition of how you want your life to be, to move towards, your own version of your reality and not according to others will be prevalent. It’s about learning responsibilities of adulting. Bills, discipline, your social circle whether good or bad, your family situation, your finances, your love life, your career. All aspects of your life.

How to cope with your first Saturn return?

The lessons are bound to happen. Going against them are just going to make it harder.

What you need to do is to reflect on what these lessons are. Are they going against what you strongly believe in? And if so, why? Is it cause your beliefs are not doing you any good? Or is it so that your beliefs are challenged so that you may view things from a different perspective? And once those different perspectives are seen, your beliefs only get stronger or more firm?

Or if you truly listen objectively and work with these lessons, will they bring more positivity into your life? Will it force you to grow?

Work on your own definition of how you want your own life to be.
