Everyone goes through a nodal return every 18.5 years. Nodal Return occurs at the ages of 18 to 19, 36 to 37, 55 to 56, 74 to 75 and 92 to 93. What this means is that the transiting nodal axis, north node and south node, goes back into the position and sign in which it was when you were born.
On the other hand, there’s also a nodal opposition where the transiting nodal axis, north node and south node, is in the opposite position when you were born. This occurs at the ages of 8 to 9, 27 to 28, 45 to 46, 64 to 65 and 82 to 83.
What does the Nodal Axis mean?
The nodes are mathematical points of where the Moon’s path crosses the Earth’s path around the Sun. They are also going to be points where eclipses happen. These points, nodes, represent our fate, our purpose.
South Node: Where and what you have been comfortable doing in the past. It’s a point where you return to comfortably, but are supposed to move away from. Letting go of comfort and the ‘old’.
North Node: Where you’re uncomfortable but pushed towards for growth into becoming and learning what you came here for. Of gaining new experiences and aiming to accomplish more of the unknown. Embracing change and inviting new energy.
Why is a Nodal Return important?
It marks a 18.5 month long period of discovery. It feels like fate or destiny is trying to steer you towards a specific path of being. No matter how much you resist, some form of it will happen. It’s up to you whether it’s going to be cataclysmic or if you surrender to the current and move with the waves for a more positive experience. Often times we’ll be too comfortable with our South Nodes, producing karmic triggers that constantly push you towards your North Node.
It’s important to find out what sign and house you have the nodes in. Then what aspects they are making to other points or planets in your chart. Understanding where you have your nodes in what signs and houses will tell you a lot about what fate has in store for you.

Ages 18 to 19
At age 18-19, it’s your first nodal return. Experiences and knowledge that will be very new, not what you’re used to. It’s the first time you’re going to experience a major change. Some starting work, some going into higher education. Friend groups change, an inner dynamic shift. Most realising they are actually enroute to be an adult, a first step into real world environments.
If you’re older than 18, what happened for you, during the ages of 18 and 19? Take note of it, to understand what it was trying to steer you towards and how it will play out in future nodal returns. See the relevance of how the nodal axis played a part in your experience as well as the rulers of those nodal signs and aspects.
If younger, just keep an eye out for signs that are steering you towards a certain direction. Whatever feels good, whatever feels right intuitively and on a gut level.

Ages 36 to 37
At age 37, you’ve been doing life for quite a while. Stepped into the working world and experienced the life path you’re on. Looking back on what you’ve accomplished and have yet to do. What you want to continue doing and stop doing.
But now the question starts of are you really on your soul’s path that you’re meant to be on? Is the life path you’re on really what you want to be doing for the foreseeable future? If not, this is the period where you’re letting go of what you stood for, making major career switches as well as making major life decisions. Most however, may be too occupied with responsibilities and comfort that they do not make the much needed change during their second nodal return. They will however be planting seeds in their subconscious of a change they need to make later on.
If younger than 36, what happened for you during the ages of 18-19? What theme was it and in which areas of your life? There will be a repeat of this theme during this coming nodal return. It may be an exact situation or just a similar one. If exact, understand what it’s trying to teach you. Or if it’s different, what is the theme that you have understood but are now experiencing in a different aspect?
If older than 36, figure out what happened during the first nodal return, age 18-19 and your second nodal return 36-37. Were those two experiences different or similar? Recognise the pattern for it will also be happening in your third nodal return.

Ages 55 to 56
At age 55-56, you’re past the midpoint in life. It’s a time to really evaluate what you are here on earth for on a deeper level. What you have learnt in the past and how it will contribute to your future. How the previous nodal returns have pushed you into where you are now and how you want your life to be moving forward. There is more of a connection within you and your soul, about what you have to do.
For most, this could be your karmic reset if you had responsibilities and reasons where you could not fully invest in making those major life switches during your second nodal return. This third one will be where you’re finally making those choices that push you on your soul’s purpose.
For some, it may be a ‘level-up’ from the difficult decision you made during your second nodal return, where you’re now reaping the benefits and seeing the results of whatever occurred during the second nodal return. Or it may be a theme of operating on a ‘higher’ level from that of your second nodal return.
If younger than 55, what happened for you during your first (ages 18-19) and second (ages 36-37) nodal returns? Identify the theme. What occurred and how did you go about that experience? Identify what both experiences were trying to teach you and look to see if you’re on that same path now, doing what you’re meant to do.
If older than 55, what happened during the ages of 18-19, 36-37, and 55-56? Those 3 nodal returns are experiences that were fated in pushing you towards what you’re meant to focus on in this life. What theme was it and how did you grow from those experiences? Take note as it will carry forward into your fourth nodal return at age 74-75.

Consciously Integrating and Acting Upon Your North Node
Ages 74 to 75
At age 74-75, you’ve experienced 3 nodal returns and should have understood by now where you tend to do things in a south node manner and how you have been steered towards your north node manner.
Most will also have already integrated their north node into their life and acted upon it consciously. It’s more about coming to terms with it and to continue operating towards your personal higher good, the north node. As you do so, previous karmic ties will seem less daunting and there’s more of a release and acceptance of why it had happened to lead you to where you are now.
As you move along the north node consciously, continuing on what it’s steering you to, the materiality of things also takes a step back as most are beginning to embrace more of a deeper and spiritually inclined wisdom. There’s more of an inner peace that arises allowing you to see a macro view of your life thus far.
If younger than 74-75, what happened for you during your 3 nodal returns? What theme was it and in what area of your life was it affecting? Those experiences will give you more information during your 4th nodal return, allowing you to see how it’s going to play out, accepting what’s coming your way with more acceptance and wisdom about your life.
If older than 74-75, look to see how all 4 of your nodal returns have shaped you to who you are now to truly understand what your life purpose was about. Things are starting to come full circle.

Letting Go Of Materiality And Embracing Your Next Journey
Ages 92 to 93
At age 92-93, there’s going to be an inner review of your whole life. How you started to where you are now. You’ve come full circle and have completed what you came here to learn, experience and grow from. You’re beginning to let go of more materiality tied to this realm. The inner peace gained during your 4th nodal return brings you to a more peaceful alignment now in preparation for your next journey.
If younger than 90, what’s useful may be to think about what you want your legacy to be and how you can contribute more to it. Attain peace within yourself so that nothing is left unturned and any regrets you have can dissolve.
The nodal axis is one of the more important points to note in your natal birth chart so that you’re able to integrate your life purpose and enact growth. It’s what you came here to experience and learn from. This is also important as we are approaching a nodal shift from Virgo/Pisces to Leo/Aquarius.
