New year resolutions don’t work. Research and science has proven that 88% to 92% of new year resolutions fail. Let’s not focus on individual circumstances but instead see why resolutions fail and what to do instead, based on your age and phase of life.

History of New Year Celebrations

The true practice of the celebration of New Year’s and of resolutions started in the Babylonians, 4000 years ago. Various calendars since then have spoken about celebrations of the ‘new year’ in middle of March. Some even spanning 12 days like ancient Mesopotamia, where Iraq is. Iraq is another interesting topic where there’s more than what’s been told to the public but let’s leave it for another day.

Why do you think cosmologically, Aries, the first sign of all signs, starts March 21st? Is March 21st then the start of a universal ‘new year’? The 31st December you know of, is the Gregorian calendar’s new year eve. What we’ve been ‘growing up’ with. What we’re made to believe and function according to. There are actually quite a number of calendars that we have gone through in order to come to this Gregorian calendar that we now operate on, thanks (or no thanks) to Julius Caesar.

Whichever calendar you deem right or abide to, here’s why your new year resolutions don’t work and what you should do instead.

A true personal new year, is the day you were born, on your birthday or to be exact, when the Sun is at the same position at the time of your birth. Save your ‘new year resolutions’ around the date of your birthday and not 31st of December. A new you, happens only every 12 years, when you’re on your 1st house annual profection year.

What’s truly important in order to follow through with goals or resolutions, is to know which part of your life you’re at, what topics are going to be of focus for the year and be aware of things that are surfacing.
