Some planets are already retrograde while Jupiter and Uranus will happen later on. Here’s what they generally mean when planets are in retrograde and how they are impacting you.
What does Retrograde mean?
Retrograde means the planet appears to be moving backwards, when it’s really just how that particular planet is orbiting when viewed from Earth. The effect this has on us will be either of these or a combination.
1. There will be a delay in the expression of that planet, in the sign/house it’s in. Delay of plans, delay of results.
2. There will be an inward expression or reflection of that planet in our lives.
3. There will be a different way in how the planet expresses itself. Not according to societal norms.
Each planet has their own meaning when they retrograde. Outer planets like Pluto, Uranus and Neptune are retrograde almost half the time so it’s not uncommon for them to be in retrograde. Thus, taking a longer time for their effects to truly take place, making it more manageable than personal planets.
Personal planets like Venus, Mars and Mercury do not retrograde as often and have more impactful influences in our lives. We’ll cover what the outer planets mean when they retrograde here in Part 1.
Pluto Retrograde
OCCURRENCE & DURATION
Once a year, 5 to 6 months.
PLUTO’S MEANING
Going deep into things and transforming them. May trigger a whole change that you weren’t generally prepared for, unconscious.

Unable to fully express themselves. Can be seen as ‘weird’. May only be able to truly be aware of one’s soul later on in life.

Neptune Retrograde

Illusions, delusions, higher vibrational love, spirituality, water.

Prone to escapism, may only be aware of ‘boundaries’ and ‘structures’ later on in life.
NEPTUNE RETROGRADE TRANSIT
Illusion of ideals are slowly stripped away, making us see things for what they actually are.
Uranus Retrograde
OCCURRENCE & DURATION
Once a year, around 5 months.
URANUS’S MEANING
Of sudden changes, rebellion and technology like AI, electricity.
URANUS RETROGRADE IN BIRTH CHART
A need to balance between rebelling meaninglessly and to truly inspire change.
URANUS RETROGRADE TRANSIT
Awaken you to change on a more manageable level. You may already know it on an intuitive level instead of it being sudden and volatile.
Chiron Retrograde
OCCURRENCE & DURATION
Once a year, around 5 months.
CHIRON’S MEANING
Chiron is widely termed the ‘wounded healer’. Of eternal wounding and where you are constantly seeking to ‘heal’ a part of yourself. Chiron is not a planet, but an asteroid. Some also consider it a comet.
CHIRON RETROGRADE IN BIRTH CHART
A soul that chose to heal parts of yourself constantly. Not external but within yourself.
CHIRON RETROGRADE TRANSIT
Emergence of a wounding of the past that we have yet to deal with.
