Venus Retrograde is happening on 2nd March 2025. What does it all mean?

Each sign is represented by a planet and the condition of each sign depends on the location of each ruler/representation. Venus is the ruler of Libra.

Currently, Venus (ruler of Libra and Taurus) is in Aries (sign of detriment), since 5 February 2025. This isn’t a good placement for Venus, but it happens every year for around 20-30 days. This time is slightly different, as Venus will also station retrograde on 2nd March 2025. What this means is that it will appear to move backwards, but it really is just a difference in speed of which the planets are orbiting. What it means for us, is that it’s a time to reflect and it’s a period in which causes delay.

Venus retrogrades happen every 18 months, so while it’s not very often, it’s still an important time. In comparison:

Mercury retrogrades 3-4 times a year, lasting around 3 weeks each time.

Venus: Every 18 months, for about 6 weeks

Mars: Every 26 months, for about 8 to 10 weeks

Jupiter: Once a year, for about 4 months

Saturn: Once a year, for about 4.5 months

Uranus: 5 to 7 months every year

Neptune: 5 to 6 months every year

Pluto: 5 to 6 months every year

So Venus will station retrograde on 2 March 2025, moving back into Pisces on 28 March 2025, it’s sign of exaltation. Exaltation means that it’s very well placed, able to express its qualities, and more. Venus will only go direct on 13 April 2025, transiting back into Aries until 6 June 2025.

What does Venus represent?

Venus mainly represents our relationship with others, how we relate to them as well as to ourselves, bringing about our own internal values. It’s also a planet of love and beauty, including art. When Venus goes retrograde, this brings a delay, a pause, a ‘step-back’ moment into all these different aspects.

Venus detriment in Aries

Venus doesn’t express its qualities well in Aries. While yes, we may all be more impulsive, passionate, assertive or bold, it may cause conflict or even a loss.

Venus likes harmony and balance, taking into account the other’s feelings before acting on something. In Aries, it’s the complete opposite, where it’s now pushed to take action for oneself, almost disregarding another’s opinion, causing conflict.

Metaphorically, look at it as though Venus in Libra likes holding hands with another and walking together, whereas Venus in Aries likes to walk far ahead of the other.

What to take note of during this period?

Hold off on major decisions

Decisions made during this period may backfire. Any major decisions, new purchase or lifestyle upgrade, won’t be as beneficial to you as it could be. Wait until Venus is in Taurus (7 June 2025) to make big purchases or to decide on important matters, or risk spending more than what you originally planned for. It could also not only be monetary, but affect your relationships with others and yourself. Or if it’s time sensitive, try to wait until 13 April 2025, when Venus is direct in Pisces. Or if it still can’t wait that long, 28 March 2025 when Venus is still retrograde but in Pisces.

Cautious with relationships

Forming any partnership during this period requires extra caution. These new connections may potentially have a toll on us. While we may be trying to assert ourselves more than usual, it may potentially cause more conflict with others. Current relationships may also push us inward, causing us to reflect on how we relate to another.

Reflect and reassess your values

Relationship with yourself and your inner values. This is a time to go within. To take a step back from everything and just focus on yourself. Follow your inner guidance and on how you relate to yourself. Find that inner peace and inner beauty, ask yourself what it is you truly value and if your external surroundings reflect that. If not, may be a time to align yourself and let go of what isn’t working anymore.

Learn from any challenge

Any challenges you face during this period is but a lesson for your growth. Reflect on the challenge, what you learnt from it and what you could’ve or should’ve done. Understand what it is trying to teach you and not make the same mistake again. If it’s not an internal challenge, but more of external factors, understand who and what contributed to the issue and look to see what should be removed from your life.

Venus rules Taurus and Libra, showing how we relate to ourselves and to other people. To our finances, our inner values. This transit brings about those areas and more depending on where you also have Aries and Pisces in your chart. Here’s what Venus Retrograde means based on your rising sign.
