There is a correlation between Chakras and Astrological Planets. It’s also evident how you may need to balance your chakra continuously throughout your life based on your own natal birth chart. Whether it’s to strengthen weak chakras, ground overactive ones, or to balance them.

What are Chakras?

“Just as you find that earth, water, fire, air and the space beyond the atmosphere, interpenetrate one another, so also these six main centres lie inside the body apparently one above the other, but functioning in mutual interdependence as one vital chain.”

– Sri Anandamayi Ma, in Lipski 1988, p.68

Chakras are life-energy centres in your body, more specifically the Astral Body, but in relation to the Physical Body. There are 7 major chakras, starting from the root of your spine all the up to the top of your head. Whenever you’re stuck in negativity, or have a certain illness, working on a specific chakra will help balance it. Whether it’s meditation, listening to frequency music, working with crystals or many more.

Then when you link it with the Map of Consciousness by David R. Hawkins, you’ll begin to see the synchronicities of all the different languages.

And again when you link it with the Hermetic Principles, “As Within, So Without. As Above, So Below”, you can easily understand how your inner workings are just a reflection of your outer environment or situations that you encounter.

So understanding your own inner structure is the key to figuring out why your external life is a certain way.

It’s believed that when your own chakras are balanced and open, energy can flow freely and it promotes your own physical and emotional well-being.

What do the Chakras represent?

Crown Chakra – Consciousness, Spiritual Connection
Third Eye Chakra – Wisdom, Perception, Insight
Throat Chakra – Communication, Truth, Expression
Heart Chakra – Love, Compassion, Forgiveness
Solar Plexus Chakra – Confidence, Willpower, Self-Esteem
Sacral Chakra – Creativity, Sexuality, Emotional Expression
Root Chakra – Safety, Stability, Grounding

How does Astrology relate to these Chakras?

Hindu or Vedic astrology links the 7 traditional planets with the chakras, while Evolutionary Astrology links the 7 traditional planets and the 3 outer planets with the chakras.

While there are some discrepancies in the Western astrology correlations, as well as some in the Vedic, these two different correlations by Jeffrey Wolf Green and Paramahansa Yogananda are my preferred and more reliable sources, with an inkling to the former.

But when you understand what each of the planet represents, and how it works in the scheme of things, you can easily derive why these planets go hand in hand with the chakras.

Evolutionary Astrology
Crown Chakra – Neptune
Third Eye Chakra – Sun & Moon
Throat Chakra – Mercury
Heart Chakra – Venus
Solar Plexus – Pluto & Mars
Sacral Chakra – Neptune & Jupiter
Root Chakra – Saturn, Pluto & Uranus

Hindu/Vedic Astrology
Crown Chakra – None
Third Eye Chakra – Sun & Moon
Throat Chakra – Mercury
Heart Chakra – Venus
Solar Plexus Chakra – Mars
Sacral Chakra – Jupiter
Root Chakra – Saturn

They are very similar just without the inclusion of the outer planets.

How to strengthen your chakras/planets?

From the book, The Art and Science of Raja Yoga, it’s believed that you can meditate on that chakra to harmonise the vibrations there.

“If any planet is weak in your own horoscope, you might try to improve its influence on you by meditating on its relative chakra in your body, and harmonizing the vibrations there.

But if it is one of the lower three chakras that  on the relatively positioned chakra in the upper triad: on the heart center to harmonize the vibrations in the coccyx; on the cervical center to harmonize the sacral; and on the Christ center to harmonize the lumbar. ”

– The Art and Science of Raja Yoga

Some practitioners also use crystals to ground, balance or strengthen these energies.

Crown Chakra – Clear Quartz
Third Eye Chakra – Amethyst
Throat Chakra – Sodalite
Heart Chakra – Rose Quartz
Solar Plexus – Tiger’s Eye
Sacral Chakra – Orange Aventurine
Root Chakra – Obsidian

Understanding Your Chakra

The Crown Chakra deals with cosmic energy. When you’re open and balanced, you receive ‘downloads’, are more connected to the universe. But when you’re blocked, your ego comes forth and there’s a disconnection between your higher self and your physical self. You may feel confused or a lack of purpose.

The Third Eye Chakra deals with insight and intuition. You seem to know things that aren’t always ‘seen’. But when you’re blocked, there can be brain fogs, lack of imagination or you’re unable to concentrate.

The Throat Chakra deals with truth. You communicate clearly, express yourself well and speak freely. But when you’re blocked, there can be a fear of speaking or even lies.

The Heart Chakra deals with love. You could act on love, be able to forgive others and foster harmony in your life. But when you’re blocked, there’s a lack of empathy, easily holding grudges, filled with grief and jealousy.

The Solar Plexus deals with willpower. Having the confidence to act upon and motivate yourself to achieve whatever you set your mind to. But when you’re blocked, there’s low self-esteem, feeling shameful, lack of control and procrastinating.

The Sacral Chakra deals with pleasure. Creativity, joy and healthy relationships become apparent. But when you’re blocked, there’s a sense of emotional instability, guilt, sexual dysfunction or fear of change.

The Root Chakra deals with survival and stability. Feeling grounded and secure in your life. But when you’re blocked, you feel fear for everything in your life, insecure and as though nothing in your life is going ‘right’.

Chakras & Astrology Dice

All of these are also reasons I’ve been using Astrology Dice to do quick readings. You may not even know you have a blocked chakra or a chakra that is overactive. There is an unexplainable phenomenon that uses the rolling of these dice to find out certain situations in your life that needs to be addressed and how to go about doing it. It’s very similar to Horary Readings where you’re trusting the divine to guide you.

Do you trust in divine timing and divine power yet? Or are you still stuck in fear, in a victim mentality? Everything happens for a reason and there’s a specific time for everything. Look at your own birth chart for what chakras you should work on or keep a lookout for our Instagram reels on more AstroDice readings.
